There is lots to do at Sibley State Park (approx. 100 miles west of the Cities)! Enjoy woods, prairies, and savannas as you explore the park’s 18 miles of hiking trails. Bike the 22-mile Glacial Lakes State Trail (connected to the park by a trail). Paddle the park’s lakes or, possibly, the “wild and scenic” Crow River (the park rents boats and canoes). Check out Mt. Tom, the beach, and the fishing pier. Borrow the park’s GPS units, horseshoes, or volleyball equipment! And, if that’s not enough, plan on a night hike under the full moon on Saturday. If you can coordinate a hike, a bike ride, or a paddle, let me know. Let’s make this a weekend to remember!
We’ll provide a couple of stoves and some basic pots and pans and a dishpan for cleaning up. (If you can bring a grill or a tarp, please let me know.) You bring your food, snacks, beverages, plates/utensils, lawn chair, and camping gear. Tents, sleeping bags, and other gear are available at no cost from the Rovers cage, but you will need to make arrangements with the cage coordinator to reserve and pick up. Rovers membership is required for this overnight trip. Beginners are welcome. Five spaces reserved till July 29 for new members who have joined in the past year.
We’ll arrange carpooling as the trip gets closer. Sorry, no dogs. Estimated cost: $5 per night + food, gas and park sticker. Deposit: $5 for each night you plan to camp. Max trip size: 25ish.
