Explore the white sand beaches and forests along Lake Michigan’s shoreline in the little finger of NW lower Michigan. Bike, hike, paddle and swim to your hearts content in this pristine outdoor wonderland. The area boasts the famous dune climb, sugar sand beaches, hiking trails through hilly forests, bike trails, breathtaking outlooks, crystal clear lakes, sandy bottomed rivers, hilly landscapes dotted with world class winery’s, art communities, and a plethora of eating establishments. The journey here is not a short one but there are many opportunities for interesting things to see and do while coming and going: The SS Badger car ferry crosses to and from Manitowoc, WI. and Ludington MI., a stop at Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore along the S. shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the five-mile drive across the straights of Mackinac on the famous bridge or a hiking stop at Indiana Dunes National Park. Additional travel suggestions will be offered at a trip planning meeting.
We’ll be staying at the DH Day campground.
A non-refundable deposit for camping is $12.00, due by June 16. The cost of transportation and non-group meals will be the traveler’s responsibility. Car-pooling is encouraged. Meal sharing and additional group expenses will be discussed at a planning meeting prior to the trip.
