Let’s visit Tettegouche State Park on the north shore Thursday to Tuesday, May 23-28 over Memorial Day weekend!
I reserved both group campsites. Two primitive group campsites in a large open area within a birch woods. Both sites are cart-in, located about one hundred yards from parking. Carts provided. The sites have picnic tables, bear-proof food lockers, vault toilets, and a large fire ring with multiple cooking grills. The nearest available water is at the park office, one and one-half miles from the group camp.
Activity ideas include:
- Hiking – 23 miles of moderate to difficult trails in the park. More options to do sections of the Superior Hiking Trail or visit other state parks along the north shore.
- Biking – The Gitchi-Gami state trail is at Silver Bay just south of Tettegouche.
- Mountain or fat-tire biking at Split Rock Wilds or Donald D. Ferguson Demonstration Forest
- Climbing – Tettegouche is one of five MN state parks available for rock climbing. Climbing policy questions should be directed to the park.
- Paddling – Canoes are available for rent during the spring – fall season. The price includes paddles and PFDs. Contact the park office for availability.
- Hanging out at Black Beach in Silver Bay
- Visiting Shovel Point and Palisade Head
- Visiting Split Rock Lighthouse
- Socializing at https://www.northwoodsfamilygrillemn.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/ourplacefinland/
Carpooling is highly encouraged due to the driving distance and limited parking. We’ll use an online spreadsheet for planning.
This is a companion trip to the Gooseberry Falls State Park trip during the same dates. Rovers from both locations may be able to meet up for activities.
You must be a member of Minnesota Rovers to go on this trip.
