Description:

Let’s visit Gooseberry Falls State Park on the north shore over Thursday to Tuesday, May 23-28 over Memorial Day weekend.

We’ll stay at the Pebble Creek group camp, one of three group campsites in the park. Sites share a parking area and rustic toilets. Drinking water nearby.

Activities include:

  • Hiking on the 20 miles of moderate to difficult trails in the park. Plenty of other options to do sections of the Superior Hiking Trail or hike at other state parks along the north shore.
  • Biking on the paved Gitchi-Gami state trail, which is accessible directly from the park.
  • Mountain or fat-tire biking at nearby Split Rock Wilds or Donald D. Ferguson Demonstration Forest, which was highly recommended by the park staff.
  • Hanging out at Black Beach in Silver Bay
  • Visiting Shovel Point and Palisade Head
  • Visiting Split Rock Lighthouse

Carpooling is highly encouraged due to the driving distance and limited parking. We’ll use an online spreadsheet for planning.

This is a companion trip to the Tettegouche State Park trip during the same dates. Rovers from both locations may be able to meet up for activities.

You must be a member of Minnesota Rovers to go on this trip.
