Camping & Kayak Practice — Black Lake Campground, Chequamegon National Forest, WI

Category: Camping, Paddling

Fri - SunJun 16 - Jun 182023
  • Estimated Cost: $20
  • Deposit: $15
  • Max Trip Size: 10 people
Description:

I have 2 adjoining campsites for up to 6 people each on Black Lake in Chequamegon National Forest, east of Hayward. This is primarily car camping and an opportunity to practice kayak skills on a small lake.

This is a great opportunity for people wanting to be part of the Voyageurs Beginning Sea Kayak Camping trip in July. You will need to make arrangements to bring a sea kayak or touring kayak. PFD’s are also required when you are on the water. We will practice strokes and maneuvering and rescues. This is a nice campground with a hiking trail around the lake, as well as a swimming beach. Other hiking is nearby in the National Forest, as well as bike trails.

There are only vault toilets available. There is water. Carpooling is encouraged as campsites have limited parking.

The cost is for campsite reservation and firewood. Final amount will depend on the number of people and amount of wood. If there is great interest, we could add campsites.
