Caving Options During Extravaganza and Caving Presentation on Zoom
The caving presentation will be the subject of the regular Tuesday night Rover meeting September 14 on Zoom. Due to the wishes of our presenter this will not be recorded so don’t miss it if you want a look at extreme exploration of an underground river cave in Minnesota. See presentation page on the Rover website.
Extravaganza
Four Caving options are available: Option 1) The standard, Ranger lead, one hour scenic tour; $15 ages 13 and over, $10 ages 5-12, children 4 and under free but ticket required. Advance reservations with the park strongly encouraged. This tour is wheelchair accessible. Option 2) much like option one but lead by a volunteer trip leader from the Minnesota Speleological Survey in a different section of the cave which is not wheelchair accessible; NO FEE. Option 3) MSS lead WILD caving (i.e. crawling, stoop-walking, getting muddy) to tour sections of the cave not open to the public; NO FEE. Option 4) For anyone wanting to, more than one tour is possible depending on interest and availability of trip leaders. MSS no cost tours offered Saturday and Sunday. Park lead tours offered Fri, Sat, Sun. The William Morrisey Visitor Center is worth a visit to learn more about the park and the cave.
ATTENTION: in order to accommodate as many people as possible, we need to know how many people are interested in caving, and which option. Nothing extraordinary is required for these tours unless it is a Wild cave trip. There are tip sheets for those interested in Wild caving (i.e. minimum gear and safety requirements). Please reply ONLY to [email protected] with your selected option, number of people, and an email address in order to receive further info and the tip sheets. While we will accommodate as many as possible, your input is crucial so we know how many volunteer MSS trip leaders are needed. Trip preferences will be given on a first come/first serve basis.
