Climbing/Hiking/Biking & More, Oh My! — Black Hills, South Dakota

Category: Hiking, Bicycling, Summer Trips, Camping, Paddling, Climbing, Other Summer Activities

Sat - TueSep 12 - Sep 222015
  • Deposit: $50
  • Max Trip Size: 30 people
Description:

Black Hills / Devils Tower / Spearfish Canyon / Mickelson biking/ Harney’s Peak hiking / Wind and Crystal Caves / horseback riding, and so much more!

The perfect time of the year to get to the Black Hills, perfect weather, bugs and tourists are gone, and the establishments are still open!

We have the South Stockade Lake Group Campsite from Sept. 12- 18 – beautiful site including pavilion w/electricity and lights! Two fire rings, two outhouses, short walk to campground showers and indoor toilets, large area amongst the trees for setting up LOTS of tents right on beautiful Stockade Lake. We leave Friday night 9/11 for a halfway point, get to the groupsite to set up camp and explore the area a little on Saturday. It’s easy this time of year to get a cabin or motel for the last few nights and after a week, a bed always sounds nice to us 🙂 But the options to get more campsites are easy, too.

The $50 deposit is the guarantee you are going. We figure out costs per man night for the groupsite – if 20 people show, then 20 split the cost for that night; etc. – you never pay the cost for others, it’s been working well over the years. Other group costs would be decided by the group – firewood, shared meal. Otherwise, food on your own.

Please go to Black Hills trip site and ask to “join” for more specific information about the trip. It’s a collaboration site. If you have any interest, you can peruse the site and decide if you would like to go for a weekend, 5 days or thewhole time…
