Yep, Rovers are headed to Deep Portage again. Join us at Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center in Hackensack (north of Brainerd) for a pleasant, carefree weekend of winter fun.
Activities include skiing (11 miles of groomed trails for traditional cross-country), snowshoeing, ice fishing (you just need your license), climbing wall, stargazing from the fire tower, reading or socializing by the fireplace with a glass of wine, enjoying the outdoor campfire ring. Ski equipment or snowshoes available, free of charge, for the weekend. Other nearby ski trails include Hiram Ski Trail and Goose Lake Trail (in Chippewa National Forest). http://deep-portage.org/
Dorm-style rooms (with bunks) have their own bathroom with shower and sink area (approx. five people in rooms-lower bunks-so lots of room to stretch out) Fees: $140 per adult; $75 for children 12 and under; no charge for toddlers. $165/person-private room. This fee includes 2 nights lodging, activities and 5 delicious home-cooked meals (Breakfast on Saturday through lunch on Sunday).
Kids are welcome; preschool age and under are free, preschool thru age 12 = $75, 13 and over = adult rate. Children will be the sole responsibility of their parents; no specific activities for children will be planned by the trip organizers but trip goers are welcome to coordinate.
Deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. Check should be made out to Deep Portage Learning Center for either the $70 deposit or the full amount of $140.00. Checks will not be cashed until the trip. Remainder due weekend of event. Carpooling to be arranged closer to the event. Contact by e-mail preferred.
