Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, etc. at National Forest Lodge

Fri - MonJan 18 - Jan 212013
  • Estimated Cost: $205
  • Deposit: $100
  • Max Trip Size: 50 people
Description:

Three nights at the National Forest Lodge (NFL) within the Superior National Forest near Isabella, MN (~4.5 hours from the Twin Cities). Trip starts with hot dinner served on Friday evening.

Activities: 30km groomed, single-track XC ski trails & 5 miles marked showshoe trails. Potential broomball and snow kiting too! Sledding hill, outdoor hot tub, lakeside sauna, and “polar plunge” opportunity in hole in the ice. Bring all your snow sport gear & your craziest winter hat (photo op).

Sleep in log cabins (2-8 persons $205) or the log cabin home (sleeps 10 $270). Must provide your own bedding/linens. All meals (served in the lodge) are included-Friday dinner through Monday breakfast.

Reasons to come on this trip: Because I sleep better after playing hard all day with old and brand new friends, eating great food (not doing the dishes), and listening to wolves howl me to sleep as I lay in the midst of pine forest, cozy and warm-that’s why.

Other: I’ve asked NFL not to provide entertainment Saturday evening as is their tradition. Maybe some of you would like to perform for the group? Otherwise we’ll have the lodge to play games and socialize in.

All Rovers are welcome but 15 spots and waiting list preference will be reserved for first-year Rovers (joined 2012 or later). Deposit of $100 must be received to reserve your spot. Contact Rob or Lori for address to send a check.

Estimated cost: $205 – $270. Deposit: $100/person. Max trip size: 50.
