Description:

Bike Weekend: Intro to Bike Touring

Bike touring gives satisfaction that’s similar to backpacking in remote places, but since you’re on a bike, you go faster and further. This weekend ride will cover the basics of bike touring—like riding a loaded bike, safety, navigating, and living out of bike panniers/saddlebags. This ride will start in Minneapolis, and from there, we’ll cycle 31 miles to Carver Park Reserve and stay in tents. The park has cycling trails, hiking trails, and kayaks for rent. For the sake of safety and the groups’ comfort, everyone joining this ride is required to attend the Weeknight Workshop: Intro to Bike Touring, described above. As the workshop will describe, you’ll have to bring your own camping gear on this trip. Regarding meals, you should bring your own sandwich lunch for Saturday. The trip includes supper on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. If you register, please include special dietary needs.
