Join us as we gently paddle down the beautiful St Croix river, and find our way back to the start point by bike! This will be a relaxed intro to kayak-biking trips, 9 miles each way or 18 miles round trip. We will meet at 10:00am at Wild River State Park at the boat ramp parking lot (River Trail trailhead) and lock our bikes. By 10:30am we will be at the Sunrise Landing in the north end of the state park, where we will park the cars and unload the kayaks and canoes. Then the fun begins! Paddling (~3hrs) downstream to the bikes, and then returning to the cars by bike (~1 hr) on paved/gravel roads! Total trip time expected >6 hrs (leaving time for photos, lunches, swims, exploring, as well as dropping off/picking up bikes and kayaks.)
This is a beginner-intermediate trip. You do not need to be a Rover member to attend day trips, but you must sign the waiver form available on the Rovers website. Participants need to organize their own bikes, bike helmets, locks, kayaks, paddles and life jackets. Participants are responsible for transport of their own kayaks and bikes. There are 3 Rovers kayaks available for members (contact Andrea – first to claim them gets em). Otherwise, kayaks will be available for rent at the State Park via a third party vendor, details will be available on the State Park website from Memorial Day. All vehicles entering a State Park need to pay the entrance fee if you don’t already have a State Park sticker.
Stuff to remember: dry bag for keys and phone, packed lunch and snacks, water to drink, sunscreen and hat, bike and helmet and bike lock, kayak/paddles/life vest, state park pass, a smile and a sense of adventure.
