Fall Color Spectacular Backpacking the SHT — Superior Hiking Trail, MN

Trip FullCategory: Hiking, Camping

Fri - SunSep 21 - Sep 232018
  • Estimated Cost: $84
  • Deposit: $25
  • Max Trip Size: 6 people
Description:

I’m planning to backpack a scenic, challenging section of the Superior Hiking Trail from Crosby-Manitou State Park south to MN Hwy 1 by Tettegouche State Park.  25.6 trail miles.  This section features the breathtaking Section 13 Cliffs climb and overlook, a 440’ boardwalk over a beaver pond, unique features including a 20’ high glacial erratic rock, some steep ascents/descents and great inland and Lake Superior views.

Oh, and the Fall Colors should be spectacular!

If there are only enough people for 1 vehicle, we would need to drive up after work Thursday 9/20 so we could catch the shuttle Friday morning; if enough for 2 vehicles (4+ people), we can drive up early Friday morning. Either way, we return Sunday evening.

Up to 5 Rovers who are experienced backpackers are invited.  If you’ve completed one of our beginner backpacking trips, you qualify!  This is a Rover trip so you can access the gear locker if you need a pack, tent, stove, etc.

Estimated Cost of $84 would cover transportation expense (mileage, fuel, and shuttle) if only 1 person signs up; the cost goes down to $56 if 2 people sign up, $42 for 3 people, etc..  Meals would be on your own.  Deposit is to help cover the cost of reserve the shuttle.

RSVP and pay deposit no later than Friday, 9/14, so I can reserve the shuttle if needed.
