Please join us for a camping trip near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Ely, MN!
Fenske Lake Campground offers visitors an escape to a small, remote campground with large, majestic pine trees and easy access to water. It is a popular base camp for exploring, fishing, hiking, sightseeing and backcountry canoeing in Superior National Forest and the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The campground lies approximately 10 miles outside of Ely, Minnesota.
We have reserved two campsites at the Fenske Lake Campground for Labor Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, August 29-Sept 1st. Our sites are overlooking the lake. We will take up to a total of 8 small tents, plus one RV (max 32 ft), or up to 12 people (whichever comes first), spread across the two sites. The campsites have vault toilets and no electricity. People who have signed up for the Rover Angleworm Trail Hike will receive priority on this trip through July 10th. After that, any available slots will be open to others. You can add your name to the list any time.
Some Activities:
- Canoe or kayak– you can paddle directly from the campground on Fenske Lake to access several other lakes, or do a day paddle in the BWCAW. Rentals are available at several outfitters nearby, and shuttles are available at some. Other lakes include Slim Lake, Bass Lake and more.
