Five-Day Border Route Trail Through Hike

Fri - WedAug 9 - Aug 142013
  • Estimated Cost: $80
  • Max Trip Size: 4 people
Description:

This trip is a through hike of the BRT which is a very rugged trail that skirts the border between Minnesota and Canada for 65 miles. We will be averaging 13 miles per day on a very rugged trail with lots of up and down. It is not a beginner trip.

We leave the parking lot at Gander Mountain in Forest Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday for a 3.5-hour drive to Finland Campground. We spend the night there and get up at 5:00 a.m. to catch the 6:00 a.m. shuttle at Harriet Quarles Transportation in Grand Marais. She will take us to the Gunflint Trail side of the BRT and then shuttle our car to the Otter Lake side where our trail ends. When we finish the hike, we will then travel the 273 miles home on Wednesday. You are on your own for food on this trip. I can share my tent if needed for one person. I am bringing a tarp also.

Estimated cost: $80. Max trip size: 4.
