Forest bathing can be a relaxing experience that helps bring focus to the present moment and has many health benefits in addition to deepening a connection with nature. If you’re not familiar with forest bathing, don’t worry, it doesn’t involve a bathtub! Forest bathing or Shinrin-yoku is a nature experience facilitated with a trained guide (me). After a brief grounding exercise to help open our senses, I’ll be offering several invitations to help you take in and connect with our surroundings. We’ll be walking at a slow pace covering only .25 miles in about 2-2.5 hours. At the end of the walk, we’ll close with tea, snacks (provided) and conversation around a rustic, outdoor sitting area.
I’d like to keep this walk to eight adults. We’ll meet just inside the Visitor Center by the reptile habitats before heading out at 1 PM sharp. This is not a hike and there will be a lot of standing in one place or meandering at a slow, leisurely pace. The weather looks to be really nice for this time of year, and sun protection would be appropriate as we may wander through open prairie.
