Fun BWCA Trip July 4th Weekend — BWCA, Minnesota

Category: Hiking, Summer Trips, Camping, Paddling

Sat - WedJul 2 - Jul 62016
  • Estimated Cost: $200
  • Deposit: $30
  • Max Trip Size: 9 people
Description:

We have a fun and relaxing BWCA trip planned from July 1-5. Let us know if you are interested!

We will be entering via Little Gabbro, #33, with just one 200-rod portage from car to base camp on either Little Gabbro Lake or Gabbro Lake. This is a very pretty area with lots to explore. From base camp, there will be 3 lakes to explore, as well as the Kawishiwi river.

We will head up to Ely either early, mid or late afternoon on Friday July 1st, and will have Walleye Fish Fry (and blueberry beer) for dinner that night at the Ely Boathouse before staying at VNO Outfitters bunkhouse Friday night. The group can arrive at the Boathouse or the bunkhouse as your schedule permits Friday night.

On Saturday morning, we’ll have breakfast at Britton’s Café, pack our things and head to Entry #33.

Here’s a link to a map of the area and the entry point: https://www.lake-link.com/minnesota-lakes/lake-county/little-gabbro-lake/8432/

We plan on exploring, fishing and relaxing around the campfire during our time up there. There will be campfire songs and laughter. We are serious about being safe and serious about having fun! If you like to fish, we have a canoe depth finder. We hope to even have fish for dinner some nights! Adult beverages will be allowed.

We will exit the BWCA on Tuesday, July 5th and will have a shower and a beverage at VNO Outfitters before heading home.
