Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim Backpack

Fri - SunNov 2 - Nov 112012
  • Estimated Cost: $70
  • Deposit: $70
Description:

This is for experienced backpackers only due to elevation changes and mileage. This will be a combination day hike and backpack trip with the exact itinerary determined by Grand Canyon campsite availibility (TBD in July).

The corridor trails are a great intro to Grand Canyon backpacking. People could make things easier by hiring a mule to take backpacks down to Bright Angel and back up to the rim.

Day 1 would go down to the Colorado River, Day 2 1/2 way up the North Rim, Day 3 day hike to the North Rim and 1/2 way down (14 mi.), Day 4 to Bright Angel, Day 5 Clearwater Creek, Day 6 Indian Creek Campground 1/2 up South Rim, Day 7 backpack out. People could opt out of the day hike(s) if desired. Snow could be present near the tops of the rims but probably not. Water may need to be carried to certain times depending.

Estimated cost: $70 plus transportation, possible motel. Deposit: $70. Max trip size: 6.
