- Estimated Cost: $10
- Max Trip Size: 15 people
Am I little obsessed with fungi right now? Maybe. But enough about me, let’s talk about mycelium. Did you know you can use mycelium to make sculptures? Or eco-friendly packing materials that can biodegrade in your backyard?
Bring a child you want to introduce to environmental science! Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/mentors are all welcome. I have materials for 15 kids to make their own sculptures.
For this activity, we’ll be using Grow Bio’s party pack (https://grow.bio/products/teacher-party-pack?variant=39954672713763) to grow your own squiggly dish. You can use your squiggly dish as is to hold things, you can decorate it with paint or markers. You can also use your squiggly dish to grow mushrooms in your garden. You can bring your own small mold and do all of those things with whatever shape you bring.
We’ll do this activity either in my driveway (weather permitting) or the garage (in case of rain). I’ll provide the address to everyone who RSVPs. To RSVP, just email me at [email protected].
If you attend you are expected to stay and participate in the activity with the child you bring. 🙂 The trip size of 15 counts only children/artists who will be making sculptures. When you RSVP, please let me know how many artists are attending.
Cost will be $10 so I can cover my costs for ordering the kit.
More details for the detail oriented:
The process is outlined here on this page https://grow.bio/pages/instructions. I will be doing Step 1 before the activity starts. We will pack the forms on July 16. You will complete Step 2 and Step 3 at home. Step 4 is optional. If you skip Step 4, you can put your sculpture out in your garden to grow mushrooms.
