Hike Afton State Park

Sat, 5:00amApr 92011
Description:

Let’s hike some of Afton’s 20 miles of hiking trails. The trails traverse remnant prairies, wind down deep ravines, and rise up to the grassy ridge tops and bluffs overlooking the scenic St. Croix River. The visitor center contains modern restrooms and water. We’ll leave at 1:30 p.m. from the Visitors Center. Bring water and snacks and wear sturdy boots. We’ll hike rain or shine for 1.5-2 hours. Possible socializing after. Afton State Park is also only 13 miles from Henry Park, so do the cleanup in the morning and then join us for the hike! We’ll find something to eat in between.

Directions to Afton State Park: Take I-94 nine miles east of St. Paul, then seven miles south on State Highway 95, then three miles east on County Rd 20. You can just follow the State Park road signs from I-94.

Estimated cost: State park admission fee $5/day or $25/year per vehicle.
