Hike and Bike in Mankato area

Fri - SunOct 3 - Oct 52014
  • Estimated Cost: $15
  • Deposit: $15
  • Max Trip Size: 10 people
Description:

Relish autumn in southern Minnesota! We will be at a group site at Minneopa State Park (just outside Mankato). What is there to do? Bike the Red Jacket Trail, Sakatah Trail, or other trails around Mankato (a bronze “Bicycle Friendly Community”). Paddle the Minnesota River. Hike at Minneopa or nearby Flandrau. This will be one of your last chances to hike the prairie at Minneopa before the DNR relocates some trails so bison can be reintroduced in 2015! Possible side trips to Mankato or New Ulm.

Bring your own food, snacks, beverages, plates/utensils, lawn chair, and camping gear. Rovers members may borrow equipment from the Rovers, but you will need to make arrangements with the cage coordinator to reserve and pick up. Rovers membership is required for this overnight trip, and you must be a current member to sign up or be on the waiting list. (Joining is easy and is just $25 per year.)

Beginners and families are welcome; 2 spaces will be reserved until September 24th for new members who have joined in the past year. We
