Take a break this Saturday and join me for a quick hike around Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis with its stately homes, wooded islands, and long north arm. We’ll meet at 5:15 on the west edge of the lake in the park off West Lake of the Isles Parkway between Newton Avenue and Penn Avenue (across from 2340 W. Lake of the Isles Parkway/2340 Grand Rounds National Byway) for a hike of about an hour (just under 3 miles). We’ll finish the hike around 6:30. Then, if you’re so inclined, stay for an outdoor production of Love’s Labor’s Lost with the Classical Actors Theater. (Love’s Labor’s Lost from Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English: “A humorous play by William Shakespeare in which a king and three of his friends promise to study and not become involved with women.” You’ll see just how well that works out!) If you just hike, bring water and bug repellent and dress for the weather. If you plan to stay for the play, please register at their site.
If you stay for the play, bring a chair or blanket, a snack or picnic, and water/beverage. There is no charge for the play, but if you throw money in the hat, it supports their educational outreach! (Note: I saw the play recently, and they did a GREAT job of bringing it to life!) P.S. I’ll try to look Rover-ish, so it’s easy to find me! P.P.S. Estimated cost is for donation for the play — and remember to register!
