- Max Trip Size: 25 people
Join us for an Autumn hike around Snelling Lake and/or Pike Island and around the other Fort Snelling State Park walking trails. These are easy, flat walking trails that meander in the trees, around Snelling lake and along The Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers.
After the hike we will have a bonfire at the very spacious and easy to social distance Swimming Beach picnic area. This is a very large and grassy picnic area facing West, overlooking Snelling Lake. We are looking forward to watching the sunset over the lake while social distancing around the bonfire. Also, there are many cooking grates dispersed close to the fire pit for easy grilling and also easy social distance cooking.
Firewood will be provided.
Mn State Park day or yearly car permit required. You can purchase your permit online.
Time: Meet at 3:00
Where? Enter Fort Snelling State Park. (Alert! Hwy 5 is closed in one direction, so check your navigation prior to driving to State Park) Pass through the entrance, drive to bottom of hill, pass the ranger station, continue until you see the Swimming Beach parking lots on your left. There are many entrances into these parking lots which are all connected on the other end. Turn into any of these swimming beach parking lots and meet on the grass overlooking Snelling Lake Beach.
