The frogs are chirping, the wildflowers are blooming and the trees are beginning to leaf. Time for a hike!
Join me for a fun morning hike on the rolling woodland hills and open prairie trails of Hyland Lake Park Reserve beginning at the Richardson Nature Center trailhead. Following the hike, anyone who wants can carry the party to a nearby eatery like People’s Organic, Good Earth, or OPH.
Location: 8737 East Bush Lake Rd, Bloomington. (This is the Richardson Nature Center, NOT the Visitor Center or Recreation Center.) No vehicle or entry fee. The Nature Center has modern restrooms, drinking water and a small gift shop with snacks, as well as awesome nature displays and a recovering raptors.
Hike time is 9:00 AM, please be sure to factor in time for traffic, parking, etc., as we plan to start the hike on time.
We’ll select a route together, likely between 7-8 miles, to hike at a moderate pace for about 2 hours plus any short breaks. If some people wish to hike at a faster pace, we can accommodate that with a separate group.
Recommend drinking water, footwear, clothing and environmental protective goop appropriate to the season. A clean change of footwear for after the hike is a good idea during the Spring hiking season. We hike (light) rain or shine, but cancel if there is a severe weather warning, thunderstorms or heavy rain. No pets allowed on these trails.
No need to let me know you’re coming, just show up – and bring a friend! A signed trip waiver form will be required if you are not a current member.
