Let’s hike about 6 miles at William O’Brien State Park on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Meet at the Interpretive Center at 10 a.m. and we will aim to starting hiking at 10:15 a.m. Park signs might say Visitor Center, but the park map has Interpretive Center.
We’ll go south to start and follow the hiking club trail west, do the Rolling Hills Savanna Trail loop, the Prairie Overlook Trail loop, then go north to catch the north portion of the hiking club trail then head east back to the start. The hike might take 2.5-3 hours as a guess.
Restroom break at about the 3 mile mark. We’ll take a break at the overlook, which might be at about the 3.5 mile mark. Bring water and a snack. Shorter or longer routes are possible. Post-hike socializing option at nearby Scandia for food and drink (Meister’s Bar or The Ozark Tavern).
I will be driving from Eden Prairie and passing through the metro. If you’re on my way and want me to pick you up, let me know.
