Please join me for a 9-ish mile loop hike in beautiful Afton State Park with some views of the St Croix River and FALL COLORS! There will be opportunities to veer off from the group and make a shorter loop if you want. This is a hilly hike. Meet outside the Visitor’s Center (bathrooms available inside). This is not the Ranger Station that you pass soon after entering the park . The Visitor’s Center is a few miles farther down the road where there are several large parking lots. Please allow plenty of time to drive through the park and be at the meeting location before 10 AM. We will try to leave on time. You will need a state parks pass (daily or yearly). These can be purchased at the Ranger Station (not our meeting point).
Bring water and hi-energy snacks (optional, but recommended for this length of hike) and dress according to the weather. We will hike in the rain unless it looks particularly bad. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
I will be coordinating this and other hikes that are at a medium-fast-paced speed (17-19 minutes per mile on flat ground). Please join us if you are interested in a medium-fast-paced hike. If you find you aren’t keeping up with the group, please be willing to notify me and continue the hike on your own so that the group can hike at this pace.
Non-Rovers are welcome if they submit the online liability waiver below.
Send me an email or text if you are planning to come so put you on the list and look out for you!
See you on the trails!
