Please join me for a choice of two loop hikes in beautiful Afton State Park! First, we will do a 7.5 mile loop in the park’s northern section. Those who wish to will continue to the Deer Valley Loop for a total of about 11 miles. This is a hilly hike! The plan is to go at a medium pace or more, so please be able to walk at least 3 mph (20 minutes per mile, except on hills). I highly recommend having food and drink, especially if you plan to go the entire distance.
Meet outside the Visitor’s Center HERE This is not the Ranger Station that you pass soon after entering the park. The Visitor’s Center is a few miles farther down the road where there are several large parking lots. Please allow plenty of time to drive through the park and be at the meeting location before the meeting time. We will try to leave on time. You will need a state park pass (daily or yearly). These can be purchased at the Ranger Station (not our meeting point). Please plan ahead so that we can start on time.
A limited number of well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please contact me if you plan to bring a dog.
Non-Rovers are welcome if they submit the online liability waiver below.
Please send me an email or text if you are planning to come in case there are last-minute updates.
