Hiking at Willow River State Park

Sun, 5:00amApr 142013
Description:

Willow River State Park is 35 miles east on 94, and a bit North on US -12. It is located on the Willow River in WI, it is a 2,900 acre state park. It has 10 plus miles of hiking trails through woods and prairies. One of the highlights is a large waterfall with several overlooks.

Meet in the town of Burkhardt at 10:00 a.m., a few miles north of the park entrance on US-12, (also know as A) in the large parking across from the BP gas station, if you want to pile into as few cars as possible to save on the $10.00/vehicle entrance fee). Otherwise drive directly into the park off of A into the park’s main entrance and follow the park’s road to the beach parking lot. RSVP for a google doc for car pooling.

We will begin our hike at 10:30 from the beach parking lot. There are bathroom facilities at this parking lot. Be prepared to hike rain or shine! Bring a bag lunch. Hope to hike 3 -4 hours or so. There are options to get back to car on your earlier with many hiking loops available.

Estimated cost: gas, plus day parking permit. Deposit: $0. Max trip size: unlimited.
