Hiking, Biking, Canoeing in SW Wisconsin

Fri - SunMay 13 - May 152011
  • Deposit: $20
  • Max Trip Size: 6 people
Description:

Trempealeau County/Perrot State Park has the most splendid display of spring wildflowers anywhere, and trails affording a panoramic view of the Mississippi. There is also a lovely canoe trail through the Trempealeau River slough and bicycling on the Great River Trail and on the town roads which are well paved and have very low traffic counts. Or you can take in the spring migration at the nearby Trempealeau Ntl. Wildlife Refuge. We’ll leave in the afternoon on Friday May 13 at a mutually agreed upon time, drive down and set up camp before having dinner. I will provide 1 dinner and 1 dinner we’ll eat at the Trempealeau Hotel, home of the famous Walnutburger. Participants will bring their own breakfasts and lunches. On Saturday and Sunday the group can split up by interests or stay together. Low-cost canoe rentals are available at the park and aren’t included in the estimated cost. ~$25 covers the campsite cost, park stickers, and the dinner I’ll provide. Park regulations limit us to 2 vehicles at the campsite and 2-3 tents depending on size. I have reserved a waterfront site that looks secluded. Estimated cost: $25 plus gas & dinner. Deposit: $20. Max trip size: 6.
