Hostel Takeover — Itasca State Park, Minnesota

Category: Hiking, Bicycling, Summer Trips, Paddling

Sat - TueSep 5 - Sep 82015
  • Estimated Cost: $105
  • Deposit: $65
  • Max Trip Size: 31 people
Description:

Hiking, biking, and paddling at beautiful Itasca State Park. We have the entire hostel to ourselves, which is across the park road from the lake where you can rent bikes, kayaks and canoes (or bring your own). Games, laughter and/or music around the campfire in the evenings or a short night hike over the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River are likely.

Don’t dawdle until the last minute to sign up as there’s always a summer-end rush and a wait list. Five spots will be saved until August 1 for Rovers joining in 2015. This is a cooperative trip where everyone pitches in to help with meals. New this summer … no cleaning! Perks such as call-ahead bunk preference (and my personal gratitude) will be given to members who volunteer to coordinate a meal or event.

Estimated cost of $105 includes 3 nights lodging, 8 meals, and cleaning (what a deal!). Newer members — consider being a co-coordinator if you’d like to learn the ropes and meet a bunch of new friends.

Current membership and non-refundable deposit required in order to reserve a spot.
