See the beauty of hiking a frozen creek(s) by “IceCreeking”. Planning to hike for 2-5 hrs. Based on conditions and group. Starting on Amity creek and then depending on the group cut over to “IceCreek” the Lester River back. 80% of the hike is next to a road or packed trail so a person can bail out easily if not feeling it or need to leave early. I have “IceCreeked” these two rivers over 10 times and would enjoy sharing them with you.
“IceCreeking” = snowshoe or hike on a river for at least 91% of the time.
Possibly meet afterwards for a meal and Banff Film Festival at the DECC.
Recommended equipment to consider
– hiking type poles – helps test ice, stability and get over shallow open water
– feet – snowshoes &/or traction devices, boots resistant to water, spare socks
– snack and drinks
I can also help coordinate a carpool if someone would like that option. We will start and finish at the same location, Lester Park Playground.
