Intro to Backpacking on the Superior Hiking Trail

Thu - MonMay 27 - May 312010
  • Estimated Cost: $35
  • Deposit: $20
  • Max Trip Size: 8 people
Description:

This is a 4-day beginner backpacking trip – You will need to take Friday and Monday (which is a Holiday) off from work. We will stay at Gooseberry Falls State Park on Thursday night (eat supper on the way up). Starting Friday morning we will backpack 5 – 7 miles per day on the Superior Hiking Trail. We will meet on May 18 at the meeting to go over food, backpacks, group gear, etc.. There are a limited number of backpacks, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads that people can use for free from the Cage. We will be covering the section from Cove Point to the Baptism River at Tettegouche State Park going past the very scenic Bean and Bear Lakes. The Superior Hiking Trail is very strenuous at times. Although this is a beginner trip this is no stroll in a city park. Estimated cost: $35 + 2 meals eating out + gas $. Deposit: $20. Max trip size: 8 people.
