Description:

Saturday morning at 10:30 am Rovers arrive in Eau Claire at my house (approx 1.5 hrs from downtown St. Paul). While drinking lattes and coffees with various snacks we will use a scope to view a great horn owl nest and a large eagle nest plus do a small hike into Putnam Park.

Afterwards we drive 45 minutes north to the Chippewa Moraine Interpretive Center for a 5 mile hike through a beautiful moraine/lake area to hopefully see hooded mergansers, wood ducks, etc. Then we arrive at the cabin for dinner, maybe an evening campfire. (Bring a sleeping bag/pillow. Beds and futon are available to lay them out.)

Sunday after a breakfast of steel cut oats and coffee we drive 10 minutes to view a 20-nest Great Blue Heron rookery. After that there is the choice to return to the cabin to kayak, canoe, or relax or drive 30 minutes to a local ski area for the great view with a hike to the top. In the afternoon we can take a pontoon cruise on the chain of lakes.

Monday morning we have steel cut oats breakfast, clean up and head back home.
