Ol’ Man Winter’s not done yet! Join me for a winter hike around Lake Harriet (Dakota name – Bde Unma) on Saturday morning. Maybe we’ll be lucky, and it will be snowing while we’re hiking.
We’ll meet at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Harriet Parkway and West Minnehaha Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55409 (4801 Lake Harriet Parkway). This is by the southeast part of the lake. (Warning! This is a different place than I’ve had people meet me before!) I will be waiting near the walking path that goes around the lake. We’ll plan to hike for about an hour at a moderate pace (3 mph?), and maybe do about 3ish miles. Parking is available along Lake Harriet Parkway as well as West Minnehaha or the neighborhood. We will hike counterclockwise (hiking north towards the bandshell). If you’re running late, you could park along the route nearer the Rose Garden/Bandshell and meet us.
The weather could be brisk, so dress for it and wear appropriate footwear. Bring your favorite beverage (maybe coffee or hot chocolate in that thermos) and a snack if you want. You might want to bring a hiking pole in case it would be helpful with ice.
For those who want to socialize more afterwards, Patisserie 46 is about a mile away on 46th Street. (To get home, you can continue down 46th Street to 35W. Or go south down to 50th Street.)
