- Max Trip Size: 9 people
This ‘class’ is mainly for those who’ve climbed a little and want to take the next step. Brand new climbers are welcome as well. Rovers will provide all the safety gear and you’ll be required to wear a helmet.
We’ll show you the 3 elements needed to belay: knot tying, safety checks, & then belaying. You’ll get to test out a few different belay ‘tools’ and you will be belaying within 30 minutes (often with Rob as the climber because he’s so confident in the belay system).
The focus for this outing is to teach belaying, however, depending on the number of helpers & learners, we’ll very likely have time to climb so folks new to climbing are invited even if they don’t want to learn belaying.
Here’s what I REQUIRE of you:
1) if you are not a Rover member you must complete Rover’s on-line waiver (see orange link on this page) no later than June 3 (I will be notified automatically when you’ve completed the waiver).
2) you inform me of your intent to attend, any climbing experience you may have (NON NEEDED)
3) you provide your mobile phone number to me (for plan changes, etc…)
I will be at Taylors Falls mid afternoon to set things up. You’ll need a MN Parks pass to park on premises. You’re invited to show up anytime after 4pm but no later than about 7pm.
I will email more details (exact location, what to wear, etc…) only to those who have emailed me.
Our priorities (in order) are: 1) keep you safe and unharmed and 2) have fun.
