Let’s get (a little) lost! Kid-focused Rovers hike — Reservoir Woods Park, MN

Category: Snowshoeing / Hiking

Sat, 2:00pm - 4:00pmDec 32022
  • Max Trip Size: 10 people
Description:

Bring a child you want to introduce to the outdoors! Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/mentors are all welcome.

Finding your way back to the trail after you get lost is an important outdoors skill. On this hike, the kids will start out blindfolded. The adults (who won’t be blindfolded) will lead the kids into the woods. Once we get to a good spot, everyone will get a map of Reservoir Woods and a goal. The kids, with help from the adults, will find their way to the flag on the map. We will have some treats as a reward for everyone’s hard work.

Plan to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Please bring: a compass if you have one, and water bottles for your party. You should not plan on having access to bathrooms during this trip. There is sometimes a portapotty near the concrete reservoir, otherwise the park has no facilities.

We will meet at Reservoir Woods Park at the trail entrance on Victoria Street. Street parking is available on Victoria, and there is also a small parking lot off of Victoria Street. Please note this trail entrance. We are meeting at the trail entrance on Victoria Street. There are multiple entrances to Reservoir Woods and I wouldn’t want anyone to get confused.

To be clear, if you attend you are expected to stay and participate in the activity with the child you bring. 🙂Please RSVP so I know how many people to expect. If there is a food I should not bring due to allergies, please let me know when you RSVP. Changes in plans because of weather will be sent out to anyone who RSVPs.
