Did you know that the only gorge along the Mississippi River is the stretch from downtown Minneapolis to downtown St. Paul?
Help to keep it beautiful! Celebrate Earth Day by participating in a River Gorge Earth Day Cleanup sponsored by the Friends of the Mississippi River !
Meet at 44th Street East and 46th Avenue South (northeast corner) in Minneapolis at 9:20 a.m. (This is just west of West River Parkway at 44th Street.) Look for Stacey and Doug in Minnesota Rovers hats. We’ll then sign in with the Friends of the Mississippi River staff and get to work cleaning and beautifying the area till 12:00! FMR will provide all of the supplies. However, if you have your own gloves, feel free to bring them. Wear sturdy shoes and dress in layers for the weather. Bring water and a snack, if desired.
This Rovers day trip is family-friendly and open to non-members. For those who are interested, bring your lunch. We’ll have a quick lunch after we’re done with the cleanup at 12:00 and then take a short hike (perhaps along the river or in Minnehaha Park.)
Contact Stacey or Doug if you plan to come. If we get enough volunteers, we may be assigned to our own, separate area, and we’d need to notify you of any location changes.
