Weekend of mountain biking for all levels through the Chequamegon National Forest Region of NW Wisconsin (Cable/Hayward). The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) off-road bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped routes through a near-wilderness area of striking beauty and peaceful solitude.
The CAMBA system is quickly becoming the Singletrack Mecca of the Midwest, with more singletrack trail being constructed every year. Singletrack not your thing? This well-mapped trail system also includes many routes that use gravel forest roads, two-track trails, and ski trails.
Saturday:
Ride at your own pace on your choice of trails – or take part in the Mt. Borah Epic race. We’ll be patrolling the race, so you must be comfortable riding on your own or with a buddy. The trails are well mapped and rated according to ability. |trail guide|
Race: The Mt. Borah Epic is nothing short of its true definition, epic. 30 miles, point-to-point, and 100% of race profits donated to CAMBA, have led Mt. Borah to stage a race that pays tribute to the trails and offers a one-of-a-kind race experience found no where else but Northern Wisconsin.
NEW: Women’s Ride: The easy-paced 1.5 hour ride will include gravel roads, two-track, and single track trails, beginning and ending in downtown Cable. The guided ride is free and open to all ages and abilities. Riders are welcome to join in the post Epic gathering at the Rivers Eatery.
Sunday:
More riding, or possibly hiking if we feel we need to use different muscles.
Accommodations: Camping or a bunk in a rustic cabin. No running water; to clean up after a long day of biking, we either pay for a shower at a hotel, swim in a lake, or use a portable outdoor shower.
Food: Bring your own breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We’ll head to a local eatery for dinner on Saturday.
Estimated cost: $75-$125 + food/gas. Deposit: event entry. Max trip size: 12 people willing to carpool.
