Weekend of mountain biking for all levels through the Chequamegon National Forest Region of NW Wisconsin (Cable/Hayward). The Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) off-road bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped routes through a near-wilderness area of striking beauty and peaceful solitude.This well-mapped trail system includes many routes that use singletrack paths, gravel forest roads, two-track trails, and ski trails. Lodging is a bunk in a rustic cabin or camping on our property.
Friday:
We’ll leave the cities after work on Friday, it’s about a 3-hour drive to our place.
Saturday:
Ride at your own pace on your choice of trails — or take part in the Borah EPIC gravel race (registration is full/closed for the singletrack races). We’ll be patrolling the races, so you must be comfortable riding on your own or with a buddy. The trails are well mapped and rated according to ability. | trail guide |
Race: The Gravel EPIC is an all new event for 2019! Miles upon miles of forested gravel roads define the Gravel EPIC race course. Riders will do a timed (self-supported) loop route through some of the areas great gravel roads for 30+ miles. The Gravel EPIC is a great option for riders looking to do something different without having to spend hours navigating tricky singletrack. Bring your gravel bike, mountain bike, fatbike, or anything in between. The Gravel EPIC offers a wide range of riders a beautiful ride through the woods. 100% of race profits are donated to CAMBA so they can continue to build and maintain these awesome trails! | Registration |
Sunday:
More riding, or possibly hiking if we feel we need to use different muscles.
Accommodations: Camping or a bunk in a rustic cabin (we ask for $20 to help with expenses). No running water; to clean up after a long day of biking, we have an outdoor shower or we pay for a shower at a hotel or go swimming in a lake or river.
Food: Bring your own breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We’ll head to a local eatery for dinner on Saturday.
