Come enjoy the almost full moon with some fellow MN Rovers. There is something very special about hiking after dark. It’s quiet and some of nature is more active. For reference, a fox will sound like a moose rustling the leaves after dark. But I get a good laugh at myself when I hear something and guess it’s 3x the size of the actual squirrel that just snuck by. November’s full moon will be a supermoon and it’s called the Beaver Moon. It should be close to full since the official full moon is Friday. It will provide enough ambient light that we shouldn’t need the headlamps the whole hike.
A little about Boulder Trail: It’s a wide, paved, smooth walking path through the woods. Fully accessible to all mobility’s with a few hills but nothing aggressive. It’s plowed in the winter and full of wildlife. I was just there last night and saw 2 grazing deer. I’ve seen lots of wildlife and always remained a safe distance to let them do their thing.
Suggested items to bring
- headlamp (preferred with a red filter) I will have extra’s
- trekking poles (if needed for stability)
For those wishing to continue the festivities, we will head to 7 West Taphouse (2510 Maple Grove Road), about 1 mile away, post-hike to chat with our new and established friends.
