Paddling Seagull Lake and Beyond — BWCAW, MN

Category: Summer Trips, Camping, Paddling

Fri - TueJul 8 - Jul 122016
  • Estimated Cost: $100
  • Deposit: $35
  • Max Trip Size: 8 people
Description:

This trip is for people who want to get out of their rut and go someplace new. On July 7, we will drive to Cascade River State Park and camp in the group campsite. On the 8th, we will view the usual video at the Grand Marais Ranger Station and take the review test for entry to BWCA before driving to Seagull Lake put-in. From there we will paddle to nearby lakes toward Saganaga Lake until our exit on July 11 and head home. During the trip, we will have the joy of camp meals organized and primarily prepared by our famous chef—Scott “the Fred.” We will try to take only short portages so we spend more time on the water, and take mostly dehydrated food to reduce pack weights. This is a trip for light-hearted Rovers who prefer laughter to seriousness (although safety will always rule), silliness to rigid perfection, and a challenge rather than the mundane.
