Recon hike, Trail Maintenance & Trail Layout — Border Route Trail – Gunflint Lake, Grand Marais, MN

Category: Hiking, Summer Trips, Trail Maintenance

Thu - SunApr 20 - Apr 232017
  • Estimated Cost: $45
  • Deposit: $45
  • Max Trip Size: 10 people
Description:

We’ll split into two groups on Friday and do recon hikes from the Loon Lake Lodge through to the Magnetic Rock trailhead. On Saturday and Sunday we’ll do a maintenance sweep on the Brice Breon, and whatever other sections that are in need of work. If time permits we’ll also start the process of getting approval to move portions of the BRT off of the west end double track ski trail by doing preliminary scouting for a bypass of the Cut-a-Cross trail between the Cross River Bridge and the Port Arthur Duluth& Western RR grade as well as the section of the BRT eastward from the Gunflint high cliffs overlook downhill to where the BRT skirts the bog crossed by the West End double track ski trail.
It’s fun, it’s great exercise, it makes you feel good, and the scenics and camaraderie are unbeatable More details available on the Friends of the Border Route Trail MU site at https://www.meetup.com/Friends-of-the-Border-Route-Trail/events/239094186/
