Root Beer Bike-N-Float

Fri - SunJul 13 - Jul 152012
  • Estimated Cost: $50
  • Deposit: $10
  • Max Trip Size: 16 people
Description:

The name basically says it all! Join me on an adventure to see what the Root River Valley is all about. We’ll be staying at the Eagle Cliff Campground in Lanesboro, Minnesota which is approximately 2-1/2 hours southeast of Minneapolis. The trip will consist of two parts: It starts with a 30 mile bike ride along the root river state trail and ends with a refreshing float down the root river in a tube! Can you think of a better combo?!

Bike ride info: We will take off from the campground and make our way to the city of Rushford, where we will stop at a local favorite called “The Creamery” for pizza and ice cream. After filling our bellies with goodies, we’ll head back to the campground to start our next adventure. The trip will cover a total of 30 trail miles, but there is an option to shave off 10 miles by turning around in Peterson. Note: The campground does rent bikes if you need one!

Tubing info: After the bike ride, we will rent a tube from the campground and will be shuttled to a launching point on the Root River just outside of Lanesboro. It will cover 8 river miles and take approximately 2 hours to float back to the campsite. I’ll provide Saturday morning breakfast and dinner. The rest is up to you!

Estimated cost: $50/+gas Deposit: $10 Max trip size: 16

The cost is based on what it would be if the maximum amount of people attended. It may have to be adjusted (say by 20 bucks or so) if less people are interested.
