Celebrate the National Trails System’s 50th Anniversary on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 2, with a long day hike on the rugged trails of Jay Cooke State Park. If you’ve never hiked Jay Cooke, you are in for a treat as it offers a unique landscape and some of the most scenic views this side of Beaver Bay. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/park.html?id=spk00187#homepage
We will hike the rocky Carlton Trail that runs along the scenic St Louis River then take on a section of the Superior Hiking Trail that runs through the park. Expect to hike about 10+ miles.

Getting there and back we will form progressive car pools:
- 8:00 AM meet at REI Bloomington, depart by 8:15 AM
- 9:00 AM meet at Forest Lake McDonalds (I-35 exit 131,) depart by 9:15 AM
- 10:45 AM meet at Jay Cooke State Park “River Inn” Visitor Center, be on the trail by 11:00 AM
On the way home, we’ll stop at the Lazy Bear Grill (I-35 exit 220 toward Barnum) for what I promise is one of the best road trip meals. Ever. http://www.lazygrills.com/
