Description:

Ski and snowshoe at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, 5.5 hours from the Twin Cities. We’ll stay at the 1945 stone-and-log park lodge on Lake Superior and ski on great trails (intermediate – NOT for beginners). There should be will be a naturalist-guided snowshoe trek on Saturday and a lantern-lit ski that evening. Another option is downhill skiing/snowboarding at the ski hill. Meals will be a group effort – everyone is expected to plan& prepare one meal. Bedding is provided.

Estimated cost: $140, not including gas. Deposit: $75 (non-refundable). Max trip size: 12.

Note: There are 10 spots – 3 for trip alumni – 4 for people who have never been to the Porkies -3 spots remain for new Rovers (less than one year), and waiting list being taken for other interested Rovers. Meal coordinators, drivers willing to take 2 other passengers (snow worthy vehicle), and non-snorers jump to the top of the list :-).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Membership is required on overnight trips (except for Extravaganza and Border Route Trail work trips).

It is the responsibility of both the trip coordinators and the participants to discover and share information related to each others’ experience and capabilities regarding trip-related activities and responsibilities.

It is also club policy that waiver forms be signed by all people participating in Rover events.
