Join us for a day of sailing in small, 1-2 person boats on White Bear Lake. There will be at least two sailboats available to share or you can bring your own. Go out for a short sail with an instructor aboard and then go out by yourself when you feel ready.
You will get wet and may end up going for a swim (either planned or unplanned…); dress accordingly. You will be asked to wear a PFD for your safety. There will be extras on hand if you do not have one of your own. We will have a motorboat available to respond to capsizes or emergencies. Waterproof, handheld marine radios will be available to use so we can all stay in touch.
This activity is most suitable for people with at least some swimming ability. Children 13+ with a parent or guardian present who have a genuine interest in learning to sail are welcome.
Bring your own picnic lunch, water, sunscreen, etc. We’ll start at 9:00 and will start packing up the boats around 4:00 or whenever we run out of interested adventurers.
The city of White Bear Lake charges us $75 for a parking sticker for each boat trailer and we ask that participants using shared boats contribute towards this expense.
Please sign up in advance so we can contact you in the event that this trip needs to be canceled or moved to another lake due to weather, lake levels, parking, etc.
