- Max Trip Size: 15 people
Join me for a morning hike around Lake Harriet (Dakota name – Bde Unma) to enjoy the beauty that is Minnesota in the summer.
We’ll start our hike at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. (This is a change from the original posting!) I will be waiting at the back of the benches and will try to remember to wear my Rovers gear. We’ll plan to hike for about an hour at a moderate pace (3 mph?) and do about 3 miles. Stopping at the Lyndale Park Rose Garden will add on a half-hour or so. We will socialize afterwards with a stop at the Bread and Pickle for coffee (or ice cream or a beer?). So better plan on at least 2 to 2.5 hours. There is paid parking as well as street parking along Lake Harriet Parkway and the neighborhood. (There will be a fundraising walk meeting at the same time. We may need to adjust our route if it’s a large group.)
Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Bring water and a snack if you want. Bring money if you want to buy something at the Bread and Pickle.
For those who want to socialize more afterwards, I found Alma Provisions at 812 West 46th Street, which looks absolutely wonderful! I may have to leave after the hike; but if you go, let me know if it’s as fabulous as it looks! There is also a Caribou at 4606 Nicollet, just off 35.
Let me know if you’re coming so that I have a general idea of the size of the group.
