The North Country Trail, What’s New in MN, ND, and WI

Mon, 5:00amMar 262012
Description:

Join us at Midwest Mountaineering, 309 Cedar, Mpls, to learn more about the development of the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) in our Upper Midwest area. Significant strides forward have occurred in the last couple of years on connecting this 4,600-mile long hiking trail and more strides will be made in 2012 thanks to our amazing volunteers. Specifics include the Arrowhead Re-route legislative effort (which would include the Superior Hiking Trail, Border Route Trail, and Kekekabic Trail as part of the NCT’s route); a significant trail improvement program within the Chippewa National Forest in north-central Minnesota; and new trail development projects in southeastern North Dakota, northwestern Minnesota, and in northern Wisconsin. Presented by Matt Davis, NCTA Regional Trail Coordinator for MN & ND. Stick around after the presentation for a meeting of the North Country Trail Association’s Twin Cities-based Star of the North Chapter.
