Join me for an early spring hike around Lake Harriet (Dakota name – Bde Unma) on Wednesday morning. We’ll meet at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Harriet Parkway and Minnehaha Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55409 (4801 E. Lake Harriet Parkway). This is by the southeast part of the lake by the Lake Harriet South Beach. We will be waiting near the walking path that goes around the lake. We’ll plan to hike for about an hour at a moderate pace (3 mph?), and do a little less than 3 miles. (Lake Harriet is about 2.8 miles.) The trail will be flat. Parking is available along Lake Harriet Parkway as well as on West Minnehaha Parkway or the neighborhood. We will hike counterclockwise (hiking north towards the bandshell). If you’re running late, you could park along the route nearer the Rose Garden/Bandshell and meet us. If we have people who want to walk at different speeds, we’ll probably end up spaced out. We’ll have a “sweep” so that no one gets left behind.
Dress for the temperature/weather and wear appropriate footwear. Bring your favorite beverage (maybe coffee or hot chocolate in that thermos) and a snack if you want.
The only cost is what you want to spend on luscious French pastries and coffee after the hike! For those who want to socialize more (and enjoy a sweet treat and coffee), Patisserie 46 is about a mile away on 46th Street. I’m told that midweek is less busy, so I’m wanting to see if that’s true! (To get home, you can continue down 46th Street to 35W. Or go south down to 50th Street.)
