Join me for an afternoon hike around Cedar Lake on Monday, December 22 at 1 pm. The forecast says 36 degrees with a 20% chance of snow so that sounds like perfect weather to enjoy the serene beauty of this urban lake. We will be hiking about 3 miles around Cedar Lake on a mixture of paved paths and beautiful but uneven wooded paths. You will want to dress for the weather and have waterproof footwear in case the paths are not cleared of snow, maybe bring you ice cleats in case there is ice.
We will meet at the South Cedar Lake Beach, 3500 Cedar Lake Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55416 at 1:00 pm. This is the southwest corner of the lake. There is free parking on Sunset Blvd., Depot St., and St. Paul Ave. near the intersection with Cedar Lake Parkway street. We will meet on the pedestrian path near this point. On a weekday there would be plenty of parking. This beach area has a restroom with running water but no water fountain so bring water to drink. https://www.minneapolisparks.org/activities-events/water-activities/beaches/cedar_lake_south_beach/
At the end of the hike I will have hot water for tea or cocoa and assorted Christmas cookies to celebrate the season. This is the fifth and final lake in my series of hiking the chain of lakes in Minneapolis in 2025 and completes my 12 month trip challenge.
