COVID precautions

Aside from showing a Rover membership card, participants will be hopefully test within 72 hours before the start of our trip, starting on February 18th.  Also, please bring your vaccination card showing a booster vaccination of Pfizer-Biontech or Moderna.

While traveling to the resorts from the lake house, masks may need to be worn depending on the vehicle occupants’ requests.

Typically 12 Rovers are invited, but to limit any possible spread, the trip will be restricted to 8 guests.

There are beds, but bring a sleeping bag and pillow or your own sheets and your bath towels.

Arriving on Friday at 6:00 pm at Main Street Cafe in downtown Bloomer, WI (dinner on your own) http://www.mainstreetcafe.com/

Hwy 53 exit for Bloomer WI, approximately 2 hours from Bloomington, MN. After dinner, we leave for my cabin near New Auburn WI. For those that arrive later, detailed instructions can be given to find the lake house.

Saturday, cross-country skiing at the Blue Hills http://www.bluehillstrail.com/, a little-known Shangri-La about 30 minutes from the cabin, close to Bruce WI. There are also snowshoeing trails there plus downhill skiing at the Christie Mountain ski area which is nearby.

Otherwise, if you do not ski, you can stay at the cabin to relax by the fire, or snowshoe at the Blue Hills or Chippewa Ice Age Interpretive Center.

Saturday night dinner at the cabin will be a coordinated meal. Jim provides the main course of pasta. Others hopefully bring side dishes/dessert/drinks, etc. Breakfasts consist of oatmeal, milk, brown sugar and coffee as provided by Jim unless others want to contribute more such as juices, fruits. We don’t fix pancakes however to keep the mess to a minimum.  Lunches are to be packed and on your own. We will use a google group page to list our contact information and food contributions.

Sunday we will cross-country ski at Hickory Ridge. It is along the Ice Age glacial moraine area, with many little hills and lakes, or you could instead stay at the cabin to relax or snowshoe.

Return to the cabin Sunday after activities to shower and eat or leave directly from the trail head for the Twin Cities.
